Gracie was enrolled at the Academy by her then-husband, although part of her tuition was paid by a group of her subordinates at Global Despoilation (Asia Pacific) AG. All told, eight persons were aware of the true conditions of her enrollment. Invited to the Academy on the pretext of attending a weeklong management skills development seminar, Gracie was enrolled as a sophomore. Her small stature made it practicable for her to pass as a child, so she was assigned to the Age-Reassignment Curriculum instead of the Kogal Curriculum. Accordingly, all staff members were instructed to treat her exactly as though she were a young girl, and affect not to believe her when she claimed to be an adult, with suitable punishments for "fibbing".


As per standard Academy protocols, all of Gracie's adult clothing and personal effects were confiscated. She was issued a set of school uniforms, including regulation underwear (white cotton briefs, white cotton undershirts, white cotton socks) and assigned to a room with three genuine young girls, all of whom were specially chosen to be taller than Gracie and more "developed" physically. The girls were coached to ignore her claims of being an adult, and encouraged to tease and bully her without mercy.

Gracie was myopic, and had worn contact lenses, which were confiscated and replaced with heavy horn-rimmed spectacles. Her prescription was subtly altered, rendering her slightly farsighted and distorting her depth perception so that she would have difficulty reading and be clumsy overall.

Gracie's glamorously long hair was cut to an appropriate length with a heavy, rather uneven fringe, and arranged into two pigtails.

At the special request of one of Gracie's ex-coworkers, the Academy dentist capped her front teeth with oversized porcelain additions, and then fitted braces to her teeth. These changes reinforced her juvenile appearance, and gave her a buck-toothed overbite.

With her new clothing, hairstyle, eyeglasses and no makeup, any resemblance to a successful professional woman was completely eliminated within 24 hours. After recovering from the initial shock Gracie made an attempt to escape, but was quickly apprehended and subdued by a member of staff. However futile this may have been, it revealed unacceptable defiance and a wholly inappropriate vocabulary in a well brought up girl of Gracie's age.

An initial intensive period of conditioning in solitary confinement therefore seemed appropriate. Though labour-intensive and costly, the availability of such treatment is what sets the Academy apart from lesser imitators, and guarantees satisfaction for our clients.

Under the supervision of the Academy's physician, Gracie was given the usual prescription for the antidepressant Dahltozine in order to render higher reasoning functions slightly more difficult. In order to enhance her childlike appearance, she was also started on growth hormone inhibiting factor (to reduce muscle tone and mass), dopamine (to suppress secretion of prolactin and thus cause her already-small breasts to shrink), small doses of estrogen (to suppress secretion of follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone, thus halting her menstrual cycle and also inhibiting her secondary sex characteristics). All of Gracie's regular medications were delivered via subcutaneous implants, renewed every four months.

Gracie's body hair, already quite minimal, was removed entirely by waxing, and subsequent growth was very modest and easily controlled by a monthly session with an electric plucking wand, which served to discourage regrowth. After six months, Gracie showed no age-inappropriate body hair growth whatsoever.

Gracie was assigned to a physical education program that consisted mostly of posture drills and tetherball, designed to be extremely tedious while providing as little opportunity for actual physical exertion as possible. She was also assigned lengthy detention and corner-time sessions to reduce her opportunities for activity. She was placed on a low-carbohydrate, low-protein diet, and frequent excuses were made to send her to bed without supper. This program, combined with her hormone therapy, ensured that she would become thin, frail, feeble and listless. Her arms and legs became childishly sticklike, her breasts disappeared and her bottom became quite boyish.

Gracie's academic program consisted primarily of reading, writing and arithmetic. Reading was age-appropriate literature chosen for being bland and unstimulating. She was quizzed on its content very closely, to ensure that she was reading it all. Arithmetic consisted of immense quantities of multiplication and division drills, and story problems, in sufficient quantities to ensure a level of boredom that guaranteed she would make mistakes, for which she would be scolded, scorned and punished.

Gracie was instructed intensively in Russian, partly because the language was previously unknown to her and would provide many opportunities to erode her self-esteem with harsh grades and assessments, and partly at her husband's request, for purposes of his own. Soviet-era textbooks ensured a copious supply of bland and uninteresting Russian literature.

Music, science and history were eliminated from Gracie's curriculum on the grounds that she might obtain intellectual stimulation from them.

After six months at the Academy, Gracie was pronounced ready to enter the world as an eleven-year-old girl. Provided with a new identity, she was legally adopted by her ex-husband (who had divorced the vanished Grace Wong in absentia) and his new Russian wife.

A follow-up visit by the Doctor three months later found Gracie thoroughly settled into her new life. Her father was quite enthusiastic about how much he preferred Gracie as his daughter rather than his wife. Her mother said that she was a very dutiful and obedient daughter who "knows her place".

Recently, her father took her to visit her former workplace, and those of her former subordinates who were aware of her identity also pronounced themselves delighted with "the new Gracie". There were no reports of any adults having penetrated Gracie's disguise, although the members of her Girl Guides troop had deduced that she was an adult and had accordingly made her their "goat".

Overall, Gracie's re-education at the Academy is rated as exemplary. At present, no need is foreseen for any refresher course or continuing education, although the possibility should be formally kept open, since Gracie expresses terror at the thought of being returned to the Academy and her parents find the threat a useful one in ensuring good behavior. In three years, when Gracie's current identity will be 14 years of age, her father expects to move the family to Singapore. At that time, he will most likely wish to have the Academy help him provide Gracie with another new identity, setting her age back to ten or eleven.
