Car Seat 6

Car Seat [Part 6]

By Daring Diane

Chapter 58

Melissa was comfortable in math class because she had been going to that class pretty much daily. As math was ending, Principal Adams was waiting to talk to her. “Melissa, Miss Woods has some obligations and I wanted to make sure you had your full class schedule.”

Brittany had not discussed classes or her exit with Melissa. Melissa was still distracted thinking about the agreement she had signed that morning. She reviewed the class schedule and nodded to Principal Adams. The principal told her Teresa had the same schedule.

After math, Melissa followed Teresa to communication arts which appeared to be the new style English class. The teacher noted her arrival and checked her name on the class roll.

After English class, Teresa led her to a technology class where the students were learning about web sites and how to design and build web pages. Melissa was overwhelmed with the new classes and trying to get comfortable. At lunch after technology, Melissa went through the cafeteria line and had no idea where to sit. She found an empty table and sat down staring at her lunch. Teresa and Jennifer saw Melissa and decided to join her to figure out why she was now attending more classes.

The girls could tell that Melissa was upset. But, they simply sat down and made themselves at home. They talked about a couple of things that happened at school the day before.

Noticing that Melissa seemed genuinely upset, Jennifer asked, “Melissa, are you okay?”

Melissa looked up. “I guess.”

Teresa pushed on, “Will you be coming to regular classes all the time?”

Melissa thought for a moment, “I’m not sure. I usually have to go somewhere during the day. But, today I will be here for all my classes. I am not sure what will happen tomorrow or in the future.”

The Principal or Principles

Students challenge Principal to adhere to the dress code.
What could possibly go wrong?
1.    Background
The members of the school board thanked Elizabeth Warren for her wonderful presentation and for sharing her views on the future for the Princess Ann Ladies Academy.  Elizabeth (Beth to her friends) was one of two finalists for the open position of Principal at Princess Ann.  This was the final interview and the board planned to make their decision tomorrow.
Elizabeth highlighted her doctoral work and her quick rise to Principal at her present school.  While she had only been in her position for a little over 2 years, the standardized test scores had improved dramatically.  Teacher and student satisfaction were rated excellent across the board.

The Endorsement

The Endorsement
By Daring Diane

Shana Marikova had been one of the darlings of the international tennis scene for a couple of years now.  She was cute and had that young look that made her a fantasy for all the fans out there.  As with several other young stars in recent years, she seemed to be more successful with her public relations than with her career.  Though she had some surprise wins over major stars, she just did not seem to be able to actually win a major tournament.  She was breaking even as a player, but she was making money by sponsoring products.   She kept pushing her agent to find a deal that would make her rich.  She along with many on the tour recognized that the long term money was in endorsement deals.

The sponsoring company would have you wear their logo or the company name on the player's hat, shirt, skirt, pants, shoes, bag, or whatever else they could get a name printed on.  Some clothing companies wanted you to wear their clothes even when not playing.  Product companies wanted you to use their products and be in commercials.

Chapter 1

Rebecca stood staring at the empty luggage carousel.  She knew friends that had lost their luggage, but it had never happened to her, until now.  She looked around and asked a clerk what she should do.  She was directed to the lost luggage reporting desk across from the carousels.  She pondered all of the business trips where she might have lost her luggage.  But no, here she was taking a few days off to be in her friend's wedding and now she had none of her personal items or her clothes.  Thank God her bridesmaid dress was here in town.  But, what was she going to wear for the rest of the week.  She needed to go shopping.  This was not a complication that she or June (the bride) needed in the midst of a wedding.
Rebecca was completing the paperwork for her lost luggage report when she hard, “There you are, I've been looking all over for you.  What's holding us up Rebecca?”
“Oh Molly, thank god for a friendly face.  The airline has lost my luggage.” Rebecca was exasperated. “I'm sorry for the delay.  It's nice to see you.”  Rebecca approached Molly, June’s older sister, and stretched up to give her a hug.  Molly bent down and they exchanged a friendly hug.

Aunt Christina - 1 - Dating

Aunt Christina – 1-Dating
By Daring Diane

Christina Meyer arrived at her late brother Carl's home on Saturday morning at about 9:30 AM.  Christina looked up as her sister-in-law Jean answered the door following Christina's light rapping on the door.  Since Jean was five foot nine and Christina less than five feet, she had to look up to face Jean.  Christina in her shoes and with her hair appeared to be a little less than five feet tall, but in actuality was closer to four and a half feet tall.
“Good morning Christina!”  Jean was wearing a nice cotton shirt and casual flowery skirt.
“Good morning Jean.  I see you are dressed and ready for a day at the spa?”
“Yes!  I've been looking forward to this all week.  I appreciate your paying for this, even if I did win our bet.  The lady I spoke to said it will take about 5 hours for the full treatment and my new hairdo.”
“No problem.  You deserve it.  I know things have been tight since Carl's death.”
